Mickey Mouse is a beloved animated character known for his humorous antics and is the iconic mascot of The Walt Disney Company. Created by Walt Disney and Ub Iwerks in 1928 at the Walt Disney Studios, Mickey is depicted as an anthropomorphic mouse sporting red shorts, large yellow shoes, and white gloves. He has transcended time to become one of the most iconic and recognizable characters globally.
Mickey made his first appearance in a test screening short called “Plane Crazy” before officially debuting in the groundbreaking sound cartoon “Steamboat Willie” in 1928. Over the years, Mickey has starred in more than 130 films, with notable works including “The Band Concert” (1935), “Brave Little Tailor” (1938), and “Fantasia” (1940). While he primarily featured in short films, he also made appearances in some feature-length productions.
Mickey’s animated shorts have garnered critical acclaim, with ten of them receiving nominations for the Academy Award for Best Animated Short Film. One outstanding achievement includes the film “Lend a Paw,” which secured the award in 1942. Notably, in 1978, Mickey earned the distinction of being the first fictional character to receive a star on the prestigious Hollywood Walk of Fame.
