Happy Wheels has just been released amidst the imminent and unsettling demise of Flash, an event that kept many on the edge of their seats. We apologize for any inconvenience this transition may have caused. We hope the anxiety over losing Flash didn’t interfere with your sleep.
If you weren’t aware that the game was in development, here’s some exciting news for you: this is the official first public release of Happy Wheels. As it’s the initial version, please be patient as we work to fix any remaining bugs.
Although I still favor Flash, I appreciate this new version’s excellent performance on mobile devices. Currently, there are no on-screen mobile controls, but they will be added in the next update. Thanks for your understanding and patience. If you’re eager to try it out on your phone right now, a Bluetooth keyboard will work perfectly.
While I previously mentioned that the game runs at 60 frames per second, some of the more challenging levels may experience slight slowdown at this rate. Fortunately, a setting is available to adjust performance, and I may consider hosting a 60Hz version on a separate page for users with high-end CPUs.
The core gameplay and design of Happy Wheels JS closely mirror the original version. The user database, levels, and replays have been preserved since its initial launch. The only thing that’s truly gone is the impending end of the universe.
